Colic - Know what to look for:
Because Colic is the number one ailment of our equine friends, it is important to take Vital Signs of your horse(s)
regularly to get the hang of it. This will help you to know when your horse may be having trouble. Have two sets
of Normal Vitals, one in the winter and one in the summer. They may vary with the cold and heat. Take when
quiet and calm.
Float - Equine Dental Care:
The best time to care for your horse’s teeth is before dental problems are obvious. As part of your horse’s
preventive medical care, equine dental exam is equally important.

Equine Herpes Virus-1: - There has been a lot of concern about the horse that was infected with EHV-1 at the
Equine Medical Center and possibly spreading to the Hampton Roads area. The Virginia Department of
Agriculture Consumer Services has daily updates about this virus, the horses that are infected and the areas that
