Lauren Richardson, D.V.M
Dr. Richardson hails from Richmond and Powhatan, Virginia, where she grew up riding hunters on the local and rated circuits. She graduated cum laude from St. Catherine’s School. Following high school, Dr. Richardson attended the University of Virginia, where she continued competing individually and on the IHSA team, winning an individual national championship, and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2005. She then attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, where she pursued the Equine studies track and completed several elective rotations at a variety of private practices in Kentucky, Florida, Louisiana, and Australia, as well as at the Livestock Disease Diagnostic Laboratory in Lexington, KY. She was inducted into the society of Phi Zeta and graduated in 2009. Dr. Richardson completed an internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Tryon Equine Hospital.
Dr. Richardson enjoys the opportunity to treat a wide variety of veterinary patients. Her specific interests include equine lameness and sports medicine. In addition to keeping up to date with current equine therapies, she has an interest in working equids and recently returned from the AAEP Equitarian Workshop in Veracruz, Mexico. She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association, and is licensed in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Dr. Richardson resides in Chesapeake with her Jack Russell terrier. She enjoys riding hunters and jumpers, reading just about everything, attending Jimmy Buffett concerts with her family, participating in watersports and anything involving the ocean, and applepicking.
