retirement & closing announcement!

With mixed emotions and after careful consideration, Dr. John Sangenario, after 41 years of service to the Hampton Roads, Northeastern North Carolina communities, and the Eastern Shore, has announced his retirement as of May 23, 2025.  He and his family are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives as they relocate to be close to their children and grandchildren.

With Dr. Sangenario’s departure comes the closing of Dominion Equine Clinic.  To assist in this transition the office will remain open until June 27, 2025, to assist with this transition and the transfer of medical records.  We are blessed to have several great equine veterinarians in our area and encourage you to establish yourself and your animals with another veterinary practice for continued routine and emergency care. 

Dr. Sangenario, his family, and our support team wish you continued health and success in all of your endeavors in partnership with the animals you love.  Our practice grew from a single truck to a fully equipped surgical facility that allowed us and many others to pursue their passion for veterinary medicine.  Words cannot express our gratitude for your support.  Thank you and best wishes!
